FERALCO joins EsAgua network and commits to calculating the water footprint

According to its commitment to sustainability and looking for a better future, Feralco Iberia joins EsAgua network, strengthening its link with the care of water and environmental concern.

Feralco, the water treatment and chemical processes products’ manufacturer, commits to developing the calculation of the water footprint (“Huella Hídrica”). Furthermore, it commits to the diffusion of this new concept in order to aware the industrial sector, even more when we talk about an industry with that much influence in the water sector. Thanks to its sustainable strategy and its status as a company linked to the direct water consumption, the company presents a very large background when making decisions in order to help the caring of this natural resource.

Feralco Iberia, S.A. is a company that was founded in 1953. It was created to meet the chemical needs of the paper industry in the area and later it evolved and expanded its scope of action to water treatment. In 2008 it was established as one of the subsidiaries of the Feralco Group, a Swedish multinational and one of the European leaders in the inorganic coagulants production. Its main activity is the manufacture of inorganic coagulants used in the drinking, industrial and waste water treatment, and in the paper industry. It has three industrial sites, located in Alegia, Leaburu (Guipúzcoa) and Valdemoro (Madrid).

A close bond with the environment

Feralco Iberia is committed to respect the environment in its activities’ development and to comply with applicable legislation and regulations, as well as those which are voluntarily subscribed. Therefore, Feralco Iberia, S.A.U. has an environmental management system according to ISO 14001, certified by AENOR for the three industrial sites.

By joining EsAgua network, the company wants to strengthen its environmental policy, now including its commitment to the water footprint. Feralco tries to progress with the Sustainable Development Goals, including the water footprint as an interesting indicator within its organization, promoting like this its commitment to the protection of water resources and the sustainable use of water.
